Windflower Vein & Vascular is pleased to announce the opening of a new clinic at Southcentre in south Calgary. The location expands access to specialist vein care for patients in the south and southeast of the city, offering diagnostic assessment and the full range of modern treatments for venous disease in a single, dedicated setting.
A dedicated vein and vascular clinic
The Southcentre clinic focuses exclusively on the diagnosis and treatment of venous conditions, including varicose veins, spider veins, and the underlying circulatory issues that cause them. Patients have access to the complete range of contemporary treatment options, including endovenous laser ablation, microphlebectomy, sclerotherapy and spider vein treatment, ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy, and stripping and ligation.
Because different presentations of venous disease call for different approaches, offering the full spectrum of treatments allows each care plan to be matched to the individual patient rather than to the limits of a single technique.
On-site diagnostic imaging
Accurate treatment begins with accurate diagnosis. The Southcentre clinic includes an on-site vascular ultrasound lab, allowing diagnostic imaging and treatment planning to take place within the same facility. This integrated approach reduces the need for referrals to external imaging centres and supports timely, coordinated care from assessment through to treatment.
A multidisciplinary specialist team
Venous disease responds best to treatment when the underlying cause is correctly identified and addressed, rather than the surface symptoms alone. Care at Windflower Vein & Vascular is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of specialists, including a vascular surgeon, radiologists, phlebologists, and a vascular medicine specialist, working in accordance with current clinical practice guidelines. This collaborative structure supports accurate diagnosis and well-coordinated treatment decisions.
Accessible, timely care
Two common barriers to vein care are long wait times and referral requirements. The Southcentre clinic is structured to reduce both. Wait times are short, and no referral is required to book a consultation, allowing patients to arrange an assessment directly.
Part of the Windflower Health network
While the Southcentre location is new, the standard of care behind it is well established. Windflower Vein & Vascular is part of the Windflower Health network, a group of specialized practices committed to clinical excellence and patient-centred care. The clinic’s University District location in northwest Calgary, formerly The Vein Treatment Centre, has served patients for decades. The Southcentre opening extends that same standard of care to a second location in the city.
Recognizing the signs of venous disease
Venous conditions often develop gradually. Common indicators include aching or heaviness in the legs, swelling, and veins that have become more visible or prominent over time. These symptoms are frequently attributed to prolonged standing or ageing, but they can reflect an underlying venous condition that a specialist is able to assess and treat. Patients experiencing these symptoms may benefit from a consultation.
